OrthoPlanner is presented as an add-on to OrthoAnalyzer and enables the user to access powerful functionality to virtually plan treatment.

OrthoPlanner provides tools to help virtually segment teeth, simulate extractions and move teeth to create a Virtual Setup. IPR can be simulated and any stl file can be added to the case as an attachment. As well as an impressive case presentation and treatment education tool for patients, virtual set ups will assist with treatment planning by allowing to make fact based treatment decisions. OrthoPlanner also enables the use of virtual articulators along with the ability to create custom analyses, questionnaires and reports.

  • Tooth margins are suggested automatically during the segmentation process. Control points give the user the opportunity to finely adjust the suggested margin and a fast edit tool allows the user to 'draw' the margin.
  • A mini database option allows the user to create several virtual setups, each presenting a different treatment strategy.
  • Extractions may be simulated to create space.
  • Tooth movements are performed by rotation around each of three axis and bodily movements in each of three directions. Teeth can be moved freehand by 'click and drag' or in defined increments using the keyboard. Teeth can be grouped and moved as a unit. Previously defined arch wires provide guidance and symmetry tools ensure a perfect arch.
  • Measurement points coupled with tooth movement overview tables and visual aids give the user a deep insight into how much the tooth has actually moved by.
  • Sub-setups allow the user to observe all movements incrementally and make an impressive patient presentation.
  • Interproximal and inter-arch clearance and collision is presented visually during tooth movements. IPR can be carried out on individual and groups of teeth by defining the mesial and distal reduction, using the automatically calculated values or by using an on-screen stripping tool.
  • An STL file can be attached to the model for case presentation and patient education or as part of a manufacturing process – eg IDB.
  • The occlusal relationship can be altered to simulate treatment using functional appliances or jaw surgery. Collision tools help identify if the occlusion is achievable and actual movements of the jaw can be identified with points place strategically around the arch.
  • Virtual articulators accurately simulate jaws movements and logically show collisions using a coloured map where each colour represents the direction of motion that created that contact. Jaw opening can be prescribed and used for appliance design using 3shape Appliance Designer.
