Precision Aligner and Retainer Trimming on Your Desktop
5XTRIM by 5 Axis Maker
5XTRIM is a 5 axis milling machine developed by UK based 5 Axis Maker specifically for the purpose of automatically trimming aligners, retainers and many other thermoformed dental appliances.
Manual trimming of retainers and aligners is laborious and requires skilled labour to complete the process. Inconsistencies in the quality of the appliances can occur due to the manual nature of the process. 5XTRIM alleviates the challenges around manual trimming by automatically cutting the appliance using a milling cutting tool in a precise and controlled manner.
5XTRIM offers many benefits over manual processing:
- Speed
- Accuracy
- Consistency
- No manual finishing
- Less skilled operation
- Fewer errors
A Streamlined Workflow
The native AI driven software is the starting point for a workflow that is simple and easy to learn. It offers all the features required to allow the user to plan and deliver the optimal trimline outcome efficiently.
Features include:
- Automatic trimline generation
- 3rd party trimline import (PTS format)
- Multiple fixture options
- QR codes for error-free trimming
- Automatically replicated trim lines
Developed & Built for Precision
The team at 5 Axis Maker have spent several years perfecting their product to provide you with a solution that delivers fast and repeatable trimming. The foundation of this machine is a custom designed, cast aluminium chassis that is precision milled and fitted with high quality precision components.
The result is a rigid and precise machine that cuts predictably and without vibration delivery a crisp cut edge that does not require further polishing.
- Cast Aluminium chassis
- Precision milled fitting surfaces
- High quality components
- Rigorous QC and calibration
5 Axis Versatility
The relative movement between the cutting tool and the thermoformed blank is controlled by 5-axis of movement. This means the cutting tool can maintain the desired cutting path and always move close to perpendicular to the surface for optimal cutting performance.
Quick Release and Attachment
For precise location within the machine, the thermoforming process is completed with the model located on a blank mounting plate. A quick release cam action is used to quickly place the blank in the required position within the machine prior to running the cutting sequence.
